At Home @ House

This is not a food blog. It just so happens that food tasting has become a habit. hahaha! Also, it's good to savor singlelicious life through giving in to our cravings! Hihihi. Well, let's just say that this is the prize received by my boyfie for being the Rocker of the Day of  his company's recently-concluded Christmas party. For someone who's favorite breakfast is pancakes, the best place to be is Jollibee? Mcdo? Kidding! It's Pancake House.

The place was quite crowded when we arrived but that was okay because we found a nice table at the corner. There was nothing which could spoil that moment. Though an old lady's voice was a  one or two scale higher than moderate when she reminded a waitress to make no mistake, ('Twas somethin' like 'siguladong alang mali ah.' in a Chinese accent.) I thought it's okay. The waitress didn't seemed embarrassed and  I've heard about the reputation of Chinese when it comes to business. In short, no hassle! So we ordered. My had  Choco Mint Surprise and Hot Cappuccino while he chose Festive Fruit and Nut for me. I added Green Tea which I am still raving about! I am not a tea lover but I ordered a tea and I will not mind having tea again next time if the tea will be as good as what I had there.
Choco Mint Surprise!
The Surprising part is the jello in between...
I really love this!
(BTW, can you find what's wrong in this pic?)
My visit here this morning is far better than the previous one. I am not sure if it's because of being with boyfie again after not seeing each other for about 34 hours. Anyway, I categorically say that a hearty breakfast with Boyfie is lifeylicious
I guess the serving is too much for me.
I love it though...

A Secret Date

At long last, after many weeks of ardent anticipation, my boyfie and I finally had a chance to visit Secret Recipe. It was October when I first saw the place. It's at 2/F Atrium, Megamall. I was lucky to have a free taste of a cake when I passed by that part of the mall. I also got coupons. Guess what? I kept them...
Such a tempting sight!

In November, I already conditioned the mind of my boyfie that we'll going to enjoy Secret Recipe's cake in December. Because the place looks quite pricey, I set our monthsary as the day of our visit. That's December 12. As you may notice, something sweet has become my boyfie's present for me on our monthsaries.

Anyway, Boyfie had a busy day,  so he fetched me late. It was already 8:00 p.m. Since I was starving already, we headed straight to the promise land. hehehe... We entered the restaurant as a couple. (Ibig sabihin magka-holding hands. Kiliggers!) After choosing the best table, we took our time choosing dishes that would make us remember the moment. Hmmm.. Boyfie ordered a bestseller - Grilled Black Pepper Chicken, and Frosty Lemon Tea. I chose pasta - spaghetti bolognese (beef) and Chocolate Indulgence as dessert. Since I presented the coupons and declared I have no idea which ones could be used, the polite and accommodating waiter promptly helped us. We got 50% off from Boyfie's main entree and a free Iced Lemon Tea. Yahoo!

The Grilled Black Pepper Chicken with fresh vegetable salad as side dish deserves a thumbs-up. It's palatable in every bite. No wonder it's a bestseller! Boyfie also enjoyed the taste of his drink. The sour with a right amount of sweet sets a balance in his meal.

I enjoyed mine too. The pasta serving is big which means it can also be for share, but I finished it with just enough appetite for the much awaited finale, Chocolate Indulgence. Its taste is familiar but unlike other cakes, its sweetness is just right. The texture is the one of the bests, if not the best, I've tasted so far. There was no dizzy aftereffect after each bite. I really enjoyed it to the max! (Babalik ako!)
Wait! Picture muna!

This another unforgettable dinner cost us Php 505.00 only! (Salamat sa coupons!)

Being there, eating there and having dinner with Boyfie are truly lifeylicious. By the way, one of the slogans of Secret Recipe is "life is sweet" and I agree. (Bow!)
A slice costs Php 90 to 95.
This place made us feel more special by allowing us to sign its guest book.

Thanks, Secret Recipe!

Greenhills in December

December 11, 2010 (12/11/10, ang galing no?!) is another lifeylicious day.

As scheduled, my friend/roommate, Amie and, of course, my boyfie went to Greenhills. Of course, you know why, but I will still write the reason here. hahaha! You can't stop me. It's Christmas season. During the holiday season, Greenhills' Christmas attractions never cease to amuse and bring joy to both young and old. Yes, I am talking about the same Christmas presentation and tiangge.
Jesus in Bethlehem

Our mission was to watch the Christmas presentation and have food trip. We weren't disappointed.

The theme of the presentation is Christmas in Wonderland which is brought to us by Greenhills Shopping Center and Globe. (Ilang ulit kami nanuod kaya natandaan ko!) It's all about Santa. The good thing is that Jesus in Bethlehem is the finale. If they didn't make the finale that way, I would feel bad. I just can't get over the line I've read recently. I am talking about "Santa stole Christmas from Jesus."

Anyway, the story started with a scene showing a family, a couple and kids singing Christmas Songs as they wait for Christmas. Then, the Rudolph scene. Of course, his nose is still red. How Christmas gifts are made was shown too. Then, seeing Santa and his sleigh made me smile. But the scene where Santa slid several times as he climbed the chimney top made me laugh. So you can guess my reaction when, after hearing a loud noise when Santa fell, Santa said "my back hurts!" It was really hilarious! The laughter from the audience, especially kids, made the whole experience more meaningful. As expected, even if Santa got hurt, he was able to deliver the gifts to the kids all over the world. Finally, the birth of Jesus was shown to mark the end of the presentation.

Look at the little boy. He's so happy!
Just like you, I know the story but I still love watching it. This is a kind of stuff that I haven't outgrown. Also, singing  along with the background music brings a lifeylicious feeling.

two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree...
Rudolph the red nose reindeer, had a very shiny nose...
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining...

Of course, the night won't be complete without the food galore.

First, we had shawarma and pineapple juice at Babba Shawarma.
Ang beef ng shawarma. Bow!
After watching a repeat, we had grilled sausage and jumbo hotdog.
Ang talap-talap!

After looking around the tiangge stalls,
Pacquiao shirts... Pili na!

Pili na... Pwedeng isukat!
(May nabili naman po kami, sila pala.) we opted to buy something sweet and cold, i.e., iskrambol (Old Street Iskrambol) We wanted more, but we're full already. It was already past ten when we decided to go home.

During this season, commuting is so difficult not only because the traffic is terrible everywhere, but also because getting a taxi takes forever.
Markbell po ang pangalan ng taxi...
Nagpapadagdag ng bayad sa pasahero!
To make the story short, we ended up riding the motorcycle of boyfie. Yes! Three persons in one motorcycle. On our way home, I actually waited for the tires to burst, fortunately they didn't. Woohooo!

A Celebrity's Chicken

My sister, Malou a.k.a. Trisha (Bawal magtanong kung bakit Trisha k'ze di ko rin alam!) is asking for a new blog entry so I need to post one as soon as I can. Though I still have several pages to read for my 8 a.m. class tomorrow, I have to do this.

Looking for a shop where my boyfie can get costumes for his group, my boyfie and I ended up taking the route  of New Manila. Since we had no specific destination and it was already dinner time, my boyfie suggested to visit Joel Torre's Inasal. Why not! I've seen this business being featured in magazine and on TV so I was kind'a expecting something, something that I can't describe right now... (hahaha)

When my boyfie said "this is the place", my reaction was like... Really?! Okay! Then, I chose the best table among the vacant ones. As I made myself at home, I started appreciating the place. Hmmm... "I see, I see this is really his," I told myself.

Then I asked my boyfie to do the honor of choosing our dish(es) of the night. Of course, he still consulted me and so we had Pa-a and Dinuguan. (Ayos ba?) Do you wanna try ordering? Here...

What's your order, Ma'am/Sir?
While waiting, I observed and realized that customers are from middle class and above. The place was like home. The lighting is somewhat dim. There are frames and posters on the walls. Waiters aren't smiling, but neither angry nor arrogant. (Baka pagod na!

Joel Torre's Movies...
The main piece is an interesting and funny painting. Here...
Such an Attention-Grabber!
Then we ate... The Chicken Pa-a is juicy, juicier than others. The aroma of JT's chicken was so irresistible. As for the Dinuguan, it is okay, but my mom's is 10x better. The rice is of good quality; hence, we ordered an extra.

A quick pic before we ate...
After the main event, (Parang boxing lang, 'no?) I observed that others were busy enjoying the food. Hmmm... It seemed that they were not first timers unlike us.
My boyfie paid Php 225.00. Not bad for a lifeylicious dinner!
Do you wanna try JT's Manukan Grille? This might be of help.

If you're far from New Manila, try these other branches!

Bakit Pasta Bucket?

I think it's time for me to post another food entry.

This might be tempting but don't you worry. This one is, again, wallet friendly. I made sure not to splurge these days because during the past years, I have managed to welcome new year with money to spend for at least the next one or two months. Now that I am out of work, I can't afford to waste money, especially not my money.

Anyway, when my boyfie fetched me, he said he's full and he'd just accompany me, but would not eat. I didn't know and care about his drama... (Not so girlfie attitude!) Why? I was quite sure my pets would start complaining soon so I didn't badger him. I knew it wasn't the right time.

Since it's weekend, Sunday, I thought of eating something different (Again!). Since I have not eaten pasta, except Jollibee's spaghetti these past few weeks, I reminded my boyfie of a place I spotted when we had coffee at last week.

Have you seen this one?
Mouthwatering, isn't it?
Location? Cyberzone Area,  SM Cubao.
Price? Here:
Affordable and Reasonable!
My boyfie ordered Pasta Al Carbonara and I, Pasta Al Meatballs and Mushroom. The crew said those are the bestsellers. We both ordered regular servings. By the way, they gave us free large PB Signature Iced Tea. What a promo!

Now, you see it...
Now, you don't!
I think you have an idea now of the taste. hahaha! My boyfie who said that he's not hungry just wiped out his plate. Do I still need to say something about the taste? hehehe lifeylicious!
I also wanna share a quotation I saw there.
What do you say? Taah-muh!
The place, the crew, tables & chairs, silverware, glasses, and china are all great! What a place to be when all you want is to enjoy the company of the person with you! After this meal, we're so in the mood to do the grocery shopping!

Coffee & Cake = Coffee Break

I just posted a food entry and here I am again beginning to write something under the same label...
I apologize for that, but I will not regret this.

Anyway, Coffee Break deserves a slot here!

The Coffee Break Cup... I love it!

Here are the reasons why I will go back to this place.
  • The Coffee - I oh so love it! More coffee please...
  • Cakes and pastries - Done with two! Coffee Break is a comfort zone. (hehe!) Next time, I'll try cheesecake - The choices I remember are mango, oreo and blueberry.
  • The Crew - Professional! That's it.
  • The Ambiance - a relaxing place @ the heart of Cyberzone Cubao
  • The price - reasonable
  • Variety - 5 star!
Conclusion: It's lifeylicious...

To give you an idea, check this out!

Hot coffee-based drinks (up to 8 choices) - Php 50 to 75;

Since it's snap-all-you-can here, I got this one too!

The coffee machine!

Coffee isn't really bad if you are not dependent on or addicted to it. Just like what they say when it comes to alcohol, DRINK MODERATELY!

Smitten by Chicken?

Having skipped two important meals, I played a little girl asking for candies to my boyfie when I asked him "where are else can we eat?" Though we earlier agreed to dine in my boyfie's favorite fast food, I was contemplating about trying something unfamiliar. To my delight, a brilliant idea came from my boyfie. He suggested a nearly forgotten place somewhere in Shopwise, Cubao.

Two or three weeks ago, my boyfie and I were intrigued to find a seemingly isolated restaurant in Shopwise, Araneta Center, Cubao. When we checked the menu placed before the entrance, we realized that it serves Singaporean cuisine. Since the price range is pocket friendly, we decided to include it in our to-visit list. That time, book hunting was our priority, so memory of that restaurant was buried in my quite crowded and disorganized long-term memory.

For passers-by eyes...
Though it's several steps away from the free parking space and my pets inside my tummy were waging war against me, I date-walked with partner. Upon entry, I took my weapon out. I looked around as if I was an investigator. The color theme is the familiar red common in fast food. The tables and chairs are common too. The place is clean and in a holiday mood because of the christmas decoration. Lifeylicious, my blog, was already in my mind.

Look at the little girl. Cutie!
Since we're newbies, we entertained the suggestions of the jolly crew. We ordered white chicken and chicken curry. As we waited, customers started to multiply. The newly-arrived patrons gave the place a homey feeling. Soon, bowls of hot soup were served. That was nice, I thought. Few minutes more, the meal was served. Here, have a glimpse!
A SCR Bestseller!
I am far from being an epicurean and the description I know is just delicious, but I am sure that a food expert has something nice to say about the taste of chicken. To give justice to the food that pacified my barbaric pets, I'll say that I oh so love the White Chicken Rice. The chicken is so juicy. The taste was just from chicken. It seemed like there was no flavoring. The dip combo made me appreciate it more. The side dish was exquisite too. The presentation was pleasing enough.

My boyfie, however, refused to five a five-star rating because he was expecting a Filipino-style chicken curry. When I tasted its sauce, I was pretty sure that I love it. I even joked if it's possible to take out the leftover sauce. For me, sauce pa lang, ulam na!

Curry na Curry!
And here is our finale. It may be quite costly considering the price range of the meals, but if you think of cafe-served cold drinks, then you just saved half the price. I just wanna share that I didn't stop until the bottom was clear. (Talap!)
Truly, chocolatey!
I think you know how I will close this entry and you're right! Dinner @ Singapore Chicken Rice is lifeylicious!

You need not see my face to know how I feel...

Amazed with Amazing!

Since I had a very busy week in school, it's great to mark it with something AMAZINGLY lifeylicious!

#11 Doña Hemady Street
New Manila, Quezon City
Phone: (632) 4165299 / 7241402
Fax: (632) 7227904
Website: http://www.amazingcones.com

After my last class today, I found my non-smoker boyfie waiting for me in the smoking area. (Paktay! Kawawa naman ang baga n'ya.) As soon as I finished all my business, we fled and found ourselves in a cozy place. As we parked, I was already excited to get inside. I thought we're about to eat crêpe. When I realized we weren't, I got even more excited.

Since the ambiance there is great, I couldn't help but drool over what my eyes saw in the pictures and video. Though I didn't talk much because of headache, I was celebrating inside! I made myself at home by having some snaps here and there. (
Keber ko kung para akong turista!)

Cool colors... I oh so love the feeling.

I love its interior... of course, especially the color. It reminded of my blog which is barely a month old. (hehe! Just a matter of fact.)

Boyfie thinking if I will order or just keep on snapping

So what does Amazing Cone offer? It's their mouthwatering pizza in a cone! I have seen pizza in different sizes and shapes, but theirs was my first! Their oven is unique too. Not only that, I enjoyed different flavors for a reasonable price. (Pero di po ako ang nagbayad! Thanks Boyfie!) My favorite is BBQ Chix! And one thing I should not forget to write here is that the HOT SAUCE IS EXCELLENT! (pramis!)

Sa tingin n'yo, masarap?

They also serve what they call Amazing Ice. It caught my attention because the choices are halo-halo, mais con yelo, (sosyal na carinderia, ahehe..), buco pandan and lychee. I loved it because it's not too sweet. (Kainaman ga!)

Pang-second round na po 'to!

I was also tempted to order soft-serve ice cream called Amazing Swirl, but I decided to just save it for my next visit. (Hihirit pa ulit!)

Aside from cleanliness of the place, I also give credit to the crew who are polite and friendly, very accommodating. They didn't keep us waiting. Even if we had to wait, I think we wouldn't bother because we enjoyed the music of APO there. (Masarap sabayan, lumang tugtugin...)

Amazing Cone... Kudos for originality and taste! (Masarap balikan!)

Back to BK!

Question: What's my favorite fast food? Ah ah um ah ah!
Clue: Check out my first name! hahaha That's a giveaway!

Anyway, perhaps I'll just write about it some other time.

Yesterday, I did book hunting. I relentlessly scanned bookshelves just to find the treasure. I went to National, Rex and Central Books, all in Recto. I also visited National at SM Centerpoint as well as two (2) more National bookstores in Greenhills. I also spent some time at National in Robinson's Galleria. If you think that's the end, definitely not. I bought some books at Rex, Cubao, yet still disappointed because I didn't find two (2) more books that I've been looking for. You can guess how exhausted I was! (Plakda!) Oh! I forgot to mention that the day before yesterday, I visited three (3) other bookstores. (Toinks!)

Anyway, after a day of burying my face in my new Oblicon book and Consti 2 class, my boyfie and I went to SM Manila, again, to ... (Alam mo na!) Alternative Dispute Resolution by Aralar is madulas. Just like a criminal, ang hirap hulihin! But finally, I found the lost sheep. ehehe When I got hold of it, I told myself "eto na 'yon?!"

As you know, I won't ruin my day just for that. So here... After many years, I was reunited with BK! As I, together with my boyfie of course who has not tried it during his entire existence, entered the shop, images of my memories there flashed one by one. I used to stay there after or in between my classes. I enjoyed my bottomless drinks. I took advantage of promos too... Alone. Yeah, alone... But my visit awhile ago was different because I was looking forward to another lifeylicious day.

BK experience is one for the books!

To those who still do not know, BK's patties are grilled! This is why they say BK is better! Not only that, it's yummy compared to others. Below is the proof. ('Evidence' kaya ang gamitin kong term para mas attorney-like. hehe) BK's answer: Have it your way! (Sure! Sure!)

It's burger time!

If you want some, go there! You won't have a hard time ordering because the counter is clear. (Totoo!) Also, though the service crew are not that jolly, they are polite and attentive. You can see that each one is doing his/her job. In other words, walang petiks! ( I dunno if they are lucky enough not to be caught. May ganun!)

See?!

When I looked around, I noticed that most customers were Koreans,if not Chinese. I'm still an amateur when it comes to pointing out who's who. hehe And guess what... they were using their laptops there. It seemed like they were in a coffee shop, only the lighting was too bright. Who cares if there's free wi-fi. You can also plug in your gadgets! So cool! Probably, this is the reason why bottomless drinks are no longer available. (Nagtataka lang po. Pasensya na. This is not a promo anyway. hahaha)

I wonder if all BK stores offer this.

Isn't great to see this in a fast food!
There's another one for all types of phone. JACKPOT!

To wrap this up, I just wanna share that it was a nice experience to back here in BK! Maybe my former classmate, Zenzen, will ask: Is it BK or the person you are with at BK? Wachatink?
